June 2008-Present: Parents Forever of West GA, Carrollton, GA Instructor. Teach required parenting class for divorcing parents in Carroll County. Provide resources and education about the effects of divorce on children and how to be effective parents despite the difficulty of divorce.

 

   

May 2008- Present: Pathway’s Community Network, Atlanta, GA. Confidentiality & Ethics and Case Management Trainer. Provide on-site and web cast facilitation & training in confidentiality, ethics, case management & HIPAA compliance to community services staff at various locations in

the state of Georgia. Primarily working with homeless shelter staff and the Department of Community Affairs.

Planned events, managed on site registration, coordinated and managed volunteers and served as customer service agent for 3 day, 200+ attendee alumni conference which included pre-planning and over seeing of events in addition to, overseeing and managing volunteers, and delegating duties to handle working with keynote speakers; managed break out rooms; attendees, panelists; presenters; moderators, time keepers, facilitators; entertainment and parties; working with current and past  professors; airport pick up and delivery; videography, housing, Power Point and multimedia; registrations and customer service. Serve as a part-time in-home Parent Educator to families referred by DFACS who are in danger of losing their children to the state or who are trying to recover custody of their children.  Help parents develop a plan to enhance and enrich family life and teach effective parenting skills, effective discipline, hygiene, housekeeping, problem solving, decision making, etc. Helped families develop action plan to improve home life. Work with state and local compliance. Filed appropriate paperwork and acted as a parenting coach to empower parents in future.

Contracted to act as event management assistant for The Sister to Sister – Everyone Has a Heart Foundation, Inc event. June 2004: Home Depot Event Management and Facilitation Store Leadership Program (SLP), Graduation and Forum event, Atlanta, GA. Worked as facilitator, support and staff for 5 day, 600 + attendee conference for the Home Depot “Store Leadership Program”. Handled materials, registration, break out room set up, presentation room set up, gift bag set up and distribution, logistics, facilitation, general support, event management and administration. January and February 2004. “Music for Marianne”. Atlanta and Newnan, GA. :  Fundraising Spearheaded, planned, coordinated and promoted a very successful 2-day fundraiser event that involved Atlanta area musicians, Atlanta and Atlanta area restaurants and businesses, a silent auction, and sale of a benefit CD. The events were held in January and February 2004, for a metro area leukemia patient who was a well-loved mother of a young daughter, a wife and a schoolteacher. Developed volunteer teams, designed and maintained the web site, acted as Treasurer and one of 2 General Event Coordinators. Delegated and managed volunteers as well as the details of the events before, during and after over a 5 month period. Through our efforts we raised over $30,000 for her family with over 1,200 in attendance. Volunteer.

 

October 2003- January 2006: Forrest Company, Virtual Assistant. Food Brokerage Company, Stone Mountain, GA.  Create Power Point presentations. Marketing materials, spreadsheets. April 2005 and April 2006: Presented at the Student Psychology Annual Research Conference (SPARC), University of West Georgia, Carrollton, Georgia. Presenter on the topic of Spiritual/Mindful parenting research at the largest student research conference in the country.

 

 

February 2005: Awarded: Alumni Fund for the Advancement of Human Science Research Award. Awarded funds necessary for continued research in parenting by the University of West Georgia, Department of Psychology.

January 2005-May 2007: Qualitative Research: As part of my Master’s degree study program a qualitative research project as an independent study/research through the Psychology department at the University of West Georgia research on the topic of Spiritual/Mindful Parenting. Self directed study with mentor advisement (supervisor: Tobin Hart).                                                                                                         

 

 

Calvert School Parent Advisory Board member: Work with school development team and administration to provide feedback and input on Calvert School programming and educational objectives.

 

 

South Eastern Virtual Assistant Group (SEVAG): Public Relations Committee and first Featured VA for the group (August/October 2004).  Create and distribute press releases, and

other public relations materials. Contribute to an ongoing Virtual Assistant leadership and networking organization representing the Southeastern United States.
