Lisa King Smith

Lisa has 3 daughters ages 14, 11 and 9.  She became acutely aware of the need for further research and education in spiritual and mindful parenting after becoming a parent for the first time 14 years ago. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Georgia College in 1991 she focused attention on mothering her 3 children, and volunteering in the community while working part time. She re-entered graduate school at the University of West Georgia after a 12 year absence in an effort to tailor a Master’s Degree in Psychology geared toward integrating Humanistic and Transpersonal Psychology with spiritual and mindful parenting studies, and transpersonal and spiritual development. Lisa is also interested in learning more about resilience in children, the effects of father loss in female children, intuition, mind/body and spiritual Psychology, along with a peripheral interest in Organizational Development. Additionally, Lisa has a deep interest in holistic and alternative healing. As a part of her studies Lisa is currently working with Tobin and Mary Hart and other professors in the Psychology department at the University of West Georgia. As a recent student, Lisa received the Alumni Fund for the Advancement of Human Sciences Research Award, worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Health & Physical Education Department and for a semester as a Teaching Assistant in the Psychology Department for a course taught by Dr. William G. Roll. In addition, she was a presenter for 2 consecutive years at the UWG Student Psychology Annual Research Conference (SPARC) in 2005 & 2006, and was a Planning Committee member and Volunteer Coordinator for the 2007 UWG Psychology Alumni Conference. She received her Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of West Georgia in May of 2007.

This web site is an out growth of her studies in Psychology as it applies to Spiritual and Mindful Parenting and is a work in progress.

Lisa works from home as a Virtual Assistant primarily working with membership associations, event planning and management, and business support services and recently as a part time Parent Educator for Morningstar Family Resources in Carrollton, GA and is a homeschool parent.

She enjoys spending time with her family and in her spare time she also likes getting together with friends, herb gardening, cooking, herbal and natural health studies, being involved in her community, skating, biking, listening to a wide variety of music, cooking, playing on the computer, reading, running her business and watching independent films.

Lisa and her family currently reside in the West Georgia area. She is originally from the South Fulton and Fayetteville, Georgia areas.
